Summer Study in the Book of Ruth - Part of My Growth Plan

You may remember earlier this summer, I encouraged making a plan for summer growth. Did you discover things in your study of God's word this summer?

I'd love to hear about your plan. How did you grow in your faith this summer?

I began reading the Book of Ruth. I read and re-read. I studied. I underlined. I made lists...

Ruth's story has always been a favorite - It's a love story, really. Who doesn't like a good love story?

After losing her husband and two sons, Naomi returns to Bethlehem (House of Bread) with her daughter-in-law, Ruth. They arrive at the beginning of the barley harvest. Without her husband, Naomi is destitute. Without children, Ruth is without a future.

Words of Blessing - Touching the Life of a Young Mom

Years ago when I was a young mom, an older woman in church gave me a little card with a handwritten Bible verse. I kept it tucked in my Bible for years and felt her prayer each time I read it.

Vivian inspired me with her teacup collection - every cup and saucer was different. I've collected individual teacups and share tea with visitors to express our uniqueness. My guests choose their cup just like God chooses them to be His child. My collection is no where near Vivian's, but it reminds me of how precious we are to God.

Unplugging - So I can Listen

In a world of technology, there's hardly a moment when we are not plugged in to something - phones, iPads, computers, Kindles, social media sites...it's tough to escape the cords that threaten to strangle us.

But there comes a time when the clamor gets too loud and the temptation to check email every hour becomes an excess. (I think I hear a few heads nodding out there....okay, so heads nodding don't make noise..)

Passing on Our Faith - Caught Rather than Taught? And, New Veggie Tales Review

As a parent, we put our hope in the verse that says:

"Train up a child in the way they should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6

There is a saying that says, God doesn't have any grandchildren.  So, as a parent I take training my children seriously. Every person needs to discover the Heavenly Father's grace and embrace His love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Every child needs to choose Him.

Prove Me Now - Will God Provide What We Need?

"Prove Me Now" Malachi 3:10

The NIV says, ‘test me in this’. This admonition from Malachi prodded the children of Israel to trust that God would provide everything they need, and more.

Malachi’s message to an errant nation to heed who they knew God to be. Their spiritual malaise had driven the joy and obedience out of their hearts. They were fudging on their offerings—using sick and lame animals instead of the spotless ones required.

This prompted me to think. How often do I give God less than my best? (CLICK TO TWEET)
