Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award and Answers to Ten Questions About Me

Sometimes it is just fun to have fun - my post today is like that. I hope you enjoy this little diversion from my regular posts and learn a little about me in the process.

My writing friend, Mary Scro, blogger at Life is Not a Formula, nominated me for the...

Sisterhood of the World
Bloggers Award

Having accepted, here are the rules I now must follow:

 1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.

2. Put the award logo on your blog.

3. Answer the 10 questions they’ve sent you.

4. Make up 10 new questions for your nominees to answer.

Thank you, Mary! I accept this blogging award and I nominate Rebecca Hatch. I have given Rebecca ten questions at the end of this post. Congratulations!!

Now onto Ten Things You Didn't know About Jeanne... (Click to Tweet)

Mary asks the following ten questions of me so here are my answers:

1. What’s the most surprising thing God did in your life last year?

The Lord graciously uncovered a root in my past and began to bring healing into my life. As a result, I am experiencing a new freedom and boldness to live my life for Christ  even thought I have been a Christian for forty years. I am realizing God is working on me a little bit at a time because He is gentle and persistent. (Click to Tweet)

2. What is your most God-sized goal for 2015?

I have two God-sized goals for this coming year. One is to finish my book called, B.O.L.D. Living: Stepping Past Fear to Embrace God-Confidence. And the second is to make plans to go on a short term mission trip.

3. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’m not sure if this would have anything to do with my short term mission destination, but I would love to go to Israel. I want to see all the places I have read about in Scripture leap off of the page and become three-dimensional rather than the two dimensions I’m used to reading about. Seeing Scripture come alive sounds so exciting.

4. What are you most thankful for at this moment?

I am feeling incredibly blessed because all of my children were home for Christmas. It was the first time in two years that all six of us were together. I find it difficult at times to have my kids living all over the country.

5. What was your favorite pet ever, and why?

We had a dog named, Herkie, growing up. I think we got him when I was about five years old and he was part of our family until late high school. This is the same dog that was with me when I got lost in the woods - though he was no help in my finding my way out. He was more interested in briar patches. It is amazing how a pet becomes part of the family. I remember experiencing incredible loss when he died.

6. What is one of your most memorable answered prayers?

We were married for about three years when I got pregnant with our first child. This is was not part of my husband’s ten-year-plan and he really wanted to buy a house before we started our family. As we began to pray together about the desires of our heart and the timing of my pregnancy, the Lord answered in an amazing way. Our son was born August 11th and we moved into our new home Labor Day weekend. We both learned incredible lessons about trust and surrender as we drew closer together in praying with one another.

7. How many different schools did you attend through 12th grade?

Counting the little private kindergarten went to when I was five, I attended five different schools during that time. In the first and second grades, I not only walked almost a mile to school, but also went home for lunch each day.

8. If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be, and why?

Corrie ten Boom. She is one of my models of the faith and I feel I have learned so much from her just from reading her books. To be able to sit face to face (I will in Heaven) and talk about the Lord would be such a huge blessing to me. She had such wisdom and total trust in the Lord. I am in awe of her faith.

9. What hobby(s) recharge your batteries?

To be perfectly honest, this is an area I need to work on. Something that recharges my batteries now is to go down to the beach or to a pond and sit overlooking the water. I think that would be my dream retirement place too. Hobbies are something that come and go with me—knitting, crocheting, beading, stamping, but they are always filled with purpose and vision of an end result. I envision myself drawing or painting—just because. But it is the idea of freedom I am after, not the outcome.

10. What is the number one item on your bucket list?

That would have to be taking a trip to the Holy Land. As a student of the word it would be the ultimate field trip!!

So, in keeping with the rules, I nominate Rebecca Hatch. She writes a blog at Rebecca Hatch, Right Where You Are

Becky, you inspire me everyday as I see you pursue writing and God's call to write. If you choose to accept this award, I'd like you to answer the following ten questions.

1. What one thing makes your heart beat with passion and motivates you to action?

2. Where do you see yourself in five years?

3. Who is your favorite Bible character and why?

4. What are you reading right now and how is it speaking to you?

5. How many states have you lived in and do you have a favorite place you have lived?

6. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

7. Have you ever been on a mission trip? If so, where and what did you do? If not, is this something you would like to do someday?

8. What is your favorite Bible verse and is there a story behind it?

9. Is God calling you to do something that might be out of your comfort zone?

10. When you have free time to relax, what is your favorite thing to do?

So, watch out bloggers - you could be the next one nominated into the sisterhood.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better and I know we all look forward to hearing from Rebecca Hatch.

What was the most surprising thing you discovered through my answers today?

Blessings,

Jeanne

  1. Thanks, Jeanne! On number 7....I, too, walked about a mile to school in Binghamton, NY - even in the snow! The days when it was safe to do that, yes, those were the good old days :-). Your answer brought back memories.
