Back to School

With July coming to a close, I want to announce my devotional called, We are a Fragrance, guest-published for the month of August. Patty Mason invited me to share with her readers and I want to invite you to stop in. Everyone who comes back and leaves a comment for me will be entered to win one of two gifts. I have handmade a beaded bookmark to give away. I also have a set of four 5X7 photo notecards with photos I have taken on the New England coastline.

5x7 Notecards
Bearing Fruit that Remains

Here's what you need to do:

Visit Patty's site during August to read my guest blog.

Leave me a comment here to be entered in the drawings. Tell me how the devotional spoke to you personally. Please be sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you're a winner.

There will be two winners chosen on September 1st. Open to residents of the USA only. I'm looking forward to sharing these gifts with you.

School has started in so many states. Here in Connecticut we have a few more weeks before classes begin but the
back to school sales are in full swing.

I love to stock up on paper, pens and other supplies. As a writer, one of my favorites is a spiral bound legal pad with a double thick backing for extra support—I like them because it's like having a built in desk surface; I can write anywhere. The other favorite tool on my desk is my Dr. Grip pen, made for a comfortable grip.

Do you have a favorite office tool that you recommend?

A Fellow writer, Gloria Ashby also wrote a blog about fragrance and shared the link.

  1. To be used by God is one of the greatest privileges we have, and being a sweet fragrance is icing on the cake!

  2. Amen, Carol. I just got an email from a reader who says it made her think of when we are not giving off an nice fragrance, like bitterness, jealousy, anger, etc. As a Christian we try to reflect Christ--but sometimes are flesh stinks.

  3. Jeanne, a great reminder of the purpose of our lives. We have to open the bottle of our life's perfume to let the fragrance out.

  4. Gloria, it does remind me of the woman with the alabaster jar :)
Thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment :)

  5. I do not have a sense of smell so I miss out on many a good fragrance as well as bad ones. But just because I can't smell a scent, I do often see or hear the effects of both a good one or a bad one such as when my kids complain about smelling a skunk on the road or when my daughter loves to smell rain in the air. That blows me away. It was a good reminder that I do need to be aware of the fragrance I give off as a daughter of the King. Are others smelling something good? Am I pointing them to Him? Or am I giving off a bad smell for Jesus? Thanks Jeanne!

  6. Thanks for your insights, Alice. My dad used to have trouble with detecting scents too. And it seems my hubby's detection skills are far more acute than mine.

  7. What a beautiful reminder, Jeanne. But at the same time, I'm reminded of the many times I've left a stinking mess in my wake. Praise God for His forgiveness and grace when we confess our failures.

  8. Thanks for stopping by the stream, Vonda. Yes, He is so patient with us!! And, even when we blow it, and say we are sorry to someone, His fragrance is there too.

  9. Jeanne, thank you so much for the reminder of what a positive impact we can have on our world. It always amazes me when I feel drawn to a person in a crowd and find out that person is a Christian.

  10. Me too, Yvonne! It's like natural friendship. Spirit to spirit, God is uniting His people.

  11. We have two winners from our giveaway, Congrats to Alice Craig who won the beaded bookmark and Gloria Ashby who takes home the set of photo notecards!
    Congratulations to you both
